WLI Update

The U.S. economy is poised for a recovery in the second half of this year, but unfortunately for workers, companies will not ramp up hiring for months to come, a weekly leading index report from ECRI suggested on Friday.

The leading index climbed to 124.1 in the week to June 20 from 123.4 in the prior week...

"The index has recovered to pre-recession levels," said Lakshman Achuthan, ECRI managing director. "We are firmly on track for a consumer-led recovery."

The index's growth rate, which smooths out weekly fluctuations, edged up to 6.9 percent from 6.1 percent.
